BACKGROUND EXPERIENCE
Stephen is an Assistant Professor of Strategic Public Health Communication at USIU–Africa in Nairobi, Kenya. He has led public health communication initiatives in areas such as reproductive health, emergency risk communication, and behavior change. Formerly Director of Strategic Communication at Kenya’s NETFUND, he oversaw communication strategy, media relations, and donor engagement. Stephen is a published qualitative researcher specializing in evidence synthesis and AI-powered analysis tools. He has trained NGO practitioners and mentored graduate students in MEAL. His career also includes leadership roles in academia, publishing, journalism, and professional training, contributing to strategic communication across sectors.

economic, and global issues with insight and precision. A compelling
storyteller who transcends headlines to engage audiences, spark
dialogue, and drive change. Expertise in primetime news anchoring,
combining sharp analysis with captivating narratives.
Passionate about environmental conservation and dedicated to
mentoring the next generation of journalists, fostering ethical storytelling.
A skilled communications specialist with strengths in strategic
messaging, media relations, and public engagement. Holds a Diploma
in Journalism (Kenya Institute of Mass Communication) and
a Bachelor’s in International Relations & Diplomacy (Riara
University). A trusted voice in media, committed to truth and impactful
journalism.
Okech Kendo

BACKGROUND EXPERIENCE
Okech Kendo is a community empowerment advocate, and a career journalist, with special interest in transformative local climate change actions. He is also a columnist, and a journalism and media studies lecturer at The Technical University of Kenya. Kendo is an alumnus of the University of Nairobi, and The University of Western Ontario, Canada
